Dear readers of what evs (dot org): i am the squirrel. i will occasionally post to this site when i see/hear/witness/taste anything worth your time. hell, i'm out here in LA just lookin' for a nut to move your butt. here's what i observed on thursday night at The Standard Lounge... Nothing too juicy this eve. *Leo and his posse where out and about last night. *Janet Jackson made a first time appearance at the The Lounge with a small entourage, incl.spelling. *Of course Mr. 'N Sync Justin was there with his immense bouncer that could crush a small country just by sitting down. *Hank "I'm too old to be out with the young kids" Azaria was out last night. Note to Hank: go back to Helen. *Pink and her crazy hair in the house with two shows this weekend at the Wiltern. *No Amanda Peet, how sad. *Miss Kelly Osborne and her pink hair preaching about papa and walking like she is a $10,000,000 star. *Jack Osborne smoking the houche like no other with a bunch of rappers... priceless behaviour from the Prince of Darkness JR. *Oh yeah, I forget Silent Bob and whats his name were there and playing jokes on everyone. So nothing great to report on dish but the kissing bandit did strike last with a young philly. I am thinking of becoming a producer full-time and not just at night. Silicon, low ride jeans, side bend situps, and the California Cold, welcome to Hollywood! Sorry there is not any more. does it get any more obvs? only 35 more days! this next tidbit is from Billboard.com. thanks to the grizz for sending this along... NYC radio jumps the gun on Springsteen single By JONATHAN COHEN Billboard.com NEW YORK ... New York radio station WPLJ-FM debuted the title track from Bruce Springsteen's upcoming Columbia album "The Rising" at 8:15 a.m. ET Friday morning (June 21), only to be immediately served with a cease and desist order from the label. The track was due to make its authorized debut Monday (June 24) via the AOL Music First Listen program, where it will be available for streaming for 48 hours. As previously reported, "The Rising," due July 30, is Springsteen's first studio album since 1995's "The Ghost of Tom Joad." Immediately after DJ Scott Shannon spun the anthemic, melodically memorable track, calls came pouring into the station, some from listeners who pulled their cars off the highway so they could concentrate. "People are so excited for new Springsteen music," says a station source. "The response was nothing but favorable." But due to the cease and desist order, the source says, "you won't be hearing the song again until Monday." Along with Monday's debut of the title cut, three additional songs from "The Rising" will be unveiled in the coming weeks via AOL Music First Listen and Netscape Music: "Lonesome Day" on July 8; "Into the Fire" on July 15; and "Mary's Place" on July 22. Meanwhile, plans are moving forward for a Springsteen/E Street Band tour in support of the record. Sources tell Billboard.com the trek will begin Aug. 9 in an undetermined North American city and play dates in the region and internationally through Dec. 15. A live television special is in the works for the day of the album's release, likely emanating from somewhere on the New Jersey shore and possibly presented in conjunction with NBC's "Today" show. Springsteen's official Web site has also revealed details of a specially packaged edition of "The Rising," which will include a 40-page full color booklet with photos and the artist's handwritten lyrics. It is unknown what the retail cost of the special edition will be. posted by uncle grambo | |
